Physical Education

The Barry Elementary P. E. program strives to offer all students an opportunity to learn a wide variety of sports such as volleyball, softball, basketball, and running. Students are encouraged to display good sportsmanship and respect for everyone at all times. All of the Character Counts Traits as well as the Barry Expectations are emphasized in P. E.

We encourage our students to be active and healthy by motivating them to join the Mileage Club.   The Mileage Club is an activity where the students choose to walk or run laps equivalent to a quarter mile. They are awarded tokens for their completion of miles.  The student with the most miles in each grade level at the end of the year is awarded the Mileage Club t-shirt.  Through grant money, we were able to put in a concrete quarter mile walking path to support this activity.  Parents are welcome to come at lunch and walk with their students.  This is an excellent form of exercise and we hope this teaches students the importance of exercise.
