About Me Education I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading from Eastern New Mexico University. This past year I completed my Master’s Degree in Literacy from Eastern New Mexico University as well as receiving the award for Outstanding Graduate Student in Reading. I have taught first grade for 3 years. Prior to first grade I taught 5th and 6th grades. General Thought First grade is an important transition time. Students need support and encouragement as they work to develop independence both at home and at school. During first grade, many skills are developed that provide the solid foundation for future academic success.
Philosophy I believe that every child can learn. I believe learning is best accomplished in a caring and stimulating atmosphere. It is my desire to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that supports risk-taking and the sharing of ideas.	Supply List

Classroom Information: Each day in class, we will be working on activities that include: Math groups, calendar time, reading aloud, shared reading, independent reading, and writing. We will be using Number Literacy in Math to further develop mathematical skills. Students will be working on sight words each week that are a part of our Reading program. We have P.E., Music, and Art, on a rotating schedule and will be visiting the library as much as possible. I also have a growing classroom library for students to utilize. Science and Social Studies are integrated into what we are learning each day. Students will be held accountable for homework, classroom rules, and character traits that we will discuss and practice daily.
