Cameo Student
and Family Programs |
We have many programs that students
and families may be involved in. The excellent participation with
families helps make our school and our programs better.
Parent
Resource Center -
If you are needing assistance with a school related issue, as
well as information on parenting, we have a variety of resources
that you can help your child. The resources can assist your child
with school subjects, test taking, and many home related issues.
We have booklets and pamphlets available for you to take home.
We have items available for ages beginning with preschool. Parents
are welcome to check out Books, Games, Videos, and Flashcards.
We are here to assist you and your family with any needs that
you may have. Come by and check out the number of resources we
have available for you and your child. The Parent Resource Center
is located beside the library in the 2nd Grade hallway. If you
have any questions, please contact Rebecca Harrell at (505) 769-4443.
Cameo
Computer Lab - This
year our computer lab is continuing the Computer Curriculum Corporation
(CCC) SuccessMaker program. SuccessMaker is an innovative educational
program that incorporates curriculum, management and assessment
into a powerful learning system. The program offers interactive
K-8 learning activities in reading, language arts and mathematics
instruction. Each course offers instruction in fundamental skills
and strategies, as well as providing opportunities for exploration
and open-ended instruction. The SuccessMaker Management System
makes it easy for teachers to monitor and provide extra instruction
for those students who need extra help in reading and mathematics.
Since the SuccessMaker program provides instruction from Kindergarten
to Eighth grade, Cameo is offering this curriculum to our Kindergarten,
First and Second grade classes this year for the first time. These
students are learning from the programs Discover English, Reading
Readiness, Initial Reading and Math Concepts and Skills that offer
instruction at their learning level. So far the programs have
proved to be successful and the students seem to think Computer
Lab is fun.
Freshman After School Program Volunteers -
Students are coordinated through
the Gear Up office at the Ninth Grade Center and they volunteer in our after
school program every day. They read with kids, help with homework or just
about anything a student could need.
Freshman Mentors -
We have recently had students during the school day that
are using an elective period to come and work with a student with their
reading. They come every day.
