Required Courses

The Required Freshman Subjects Are:

  • Math
    • Algebra 1
    • PreAP Geometry
  • English
    • English 1
    • Honors English
    • English as a Second Language
  • Biology
  • U.S. History
  • Careers

The Required Courses for Students Entering Grade 9 in the 2009-2010 School Year:

  • 4 units in English
  • 4 units in Mathematics, of which 1 unit shall be equivalent to or higher than the level of Algebra 2
  • 3 units of Science, 2 units of which shall have a laboratory component
  • 3 1/2 units of Social Science; including: U.S. and World History and Geography, Government, Economics, and 1/2 unit of New Mexico History
  • 1 unit of Physical Education
  • 1 unit in one of the following: a career cluster course, workplace readiness or a language other than English.
  • 7 1/2 elective units
