2008 Scholarships - November

Seniors: Gaates Millenium Scholarship. Must be an African, American
Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American. Must be
a legal citizen/resident and at least a 3.3 GPA. See Mr. Replogle for
details. Deadline is January 12th, 2009.

Seniors: Schering-Plough sponsors the "Will to Win Scholarship program for
high school seniors with asthma who have achieved a level of excellence in
one of the following: performing arts, community service, athletics, visual
arts, or science who are pursuing higher education. Visit

Seniors: 2008 SAE Engineering Scholarships for students interested in the
study of engineering and the related sciences. For more information, visit
www.sae.org/students/engschlr.htm. Deadline: Dec. 1st.

All Students: The Council for America's Freedom announces the 15th annual
First Freedom Student Competition. The 1st semester national essay contest
offers 9th - 12th grade students an opportunity to compete for $3,000,
$1,500, and $750 as they examine the First Amendment and the history and
relevance of religious freedom in America and the world today. See Ms.
Stephenson in D14 for more details.

Seniors: AXA Achievement Scholarships. Applicants should be students who
set and reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination, and ability
to succeed in college and who also have respect for self, family, and
community. Visit www.Axa-achievement.com to learn more. Deadline:
December 15th.

Seniors: New Mexico Elks scholarships. See Mr. Replogle for application.
Deadline: Jan. 12, 2009.

Seniors: Stephen Van Aguilar Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a
senior with a GPA of at least 2.5 and planning to attend a NM college or
university. Please see Mr. Replogle for an application. Deadline: January
15th, 2009.

Seniors: Elks "Most Valuable Student" Scholarship. Scholarship will be
based on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. See Mr. Replogle for
an application. Deadline: Jan. 9, 2009.

Seniors: National Wild Turkey Federation Academic Scholarship Program.
Must have a current hunting license and be a member of the National Wild
Turkey Federation. Apply at www.nwtf.org. Deadline: January 1st, 2009.

Seniors: Students planning to attend the University of Oklahoma can apply
for a $2,000 scholarship. Visit www.freewebs.com/nmsooners.

Albuquerque Community Foundation has scholarship and financial aid programs
to help NM students. Visit www.albuquerquefoundation.org for details.
