GEAR-UP
Gaining Early Awareness & Reading for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR-UP) is a federal partnership grant that was awarded to Clovis Community College in 2005 and will run through 2011. The grant serves every Clovis
High School student enrolled in the 10th grade, during the 2008-2009 school year and will follow these students in a cohort design model through their 12th
grade year. This group of students has been served since their 7th grade year.
GEAR UP Project Mission:
The mission of GEAR UP is to significantly increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education.
Clovis GEAR UP ABC Model:
- Academic Achievement for all students by increasing the academic performance and preparation for post-secondary education for GEAR UP students;
- Bridges to high school, college, and career success, through efforts to increase the rate of high school graduation and participation in postsecondary education for GEAR UP students; and to increase GEAR UP student and family knowledge of post-secondary options, preparation, and financing; and
- Collaboration with the Clovis Municipal Schools to provide sustainable systemic change in the schools served.
GEAR UP is located in room G-5 at CHS.
