Professional Learning Communities (PLC) |
Educators
committed to working collaboratively in ongoing processes of
collective inquiry and action research in order to achieve better results
for the students they serve.” (DuFour, DuFour, Eaker, Many, 2006)
In an effort to increase student achievement at Clovis High School,
our staff is fully engaged in Professional Learning Communities.
Every Wednesday morning our staff meets within their departments
to determine essential outcomes per course, create common
assessments, review curricula, share instructional strategies, analyze
assessment data and celebrate successes. Additionally, the staff is
researching and working to create a pyramid of interventions in an
attempt to help ALL students succeed. It is our goal to create a
directive, timely and systematic approach to assist any student who is
struggling. By analyzing our current realities, we are making
necessary changes to implement best practices in all areas of the
school culture. Understanding that this process is intense and
laborious, our commitment is to work diligently over the next three
years to make CHS a place where learning is constant and failure is
not an option. |
