Family Service Program

What is it?
Family Services provides centralized access to an array of programs and community resources for our children and their families. Through the utilization of licensed social workers, titled Family Services Specialist (FSS) and the collaborative efforts of the schools, families, and community, we are able to design strategies that meet family needs more effectively and utilize community resources more efficiently. It is not our goal to simply treat the problem, but to empower our children and their families to create long term solutions for the challenges and conditions encountered in their daily lives.

Federal Programs

Referrals
Referrals of a student/family from the teacher/support staff will be made to the school principal. After being reviewed by the school principal and/or counselor, the students and families may be referred to the FSS assigned to their school. Our primary focus will be to those students with attendance problems and then case by case basis. Referrals can be made in person as well as by telephone.

The FSS will visit the home and conduct and informal family assessment. The assessment will focus on family strengths, it will provide a balanced picture of the family and what motivates them.

The FSS will conduct individually or bring together school personnel, community agencies, responsible for the delivery of services needed by the family. The FSS will assist the family in scheduling appointments for services.

The FSS will be responsible for monitoring the progress of each family. The FSS together with the family will determined the appropriate time for exiting the program.
