HIGHLAND NEWSLETTER
October 2017

Dear Highland Parents,

It is hard to believe that it is already October. It is the time of year where the weather can turn cooler without much notice. Please have your children dress appropriately for the cooler weather.

We had our first Parent Reading Night for 1st through 3rd grade parents on Sept 20th. We had a small turn out but there was some good information given on how to help with reading at home.

I would like to invite everyone to attend our PAC meetings each month. Our October PAC meeting will be October 19th.

All Highland students participated in Constitution Week Activities, which included writing new laws, creating learning cubes of important facts about the constitution and creating portraits of past presidents.

Another great thing we have going on is Art in our schools. We have a traveling art teacher who comes once a week to work with classrooms on a variety of art projects.

This month we have a variety of activities going on at Highland for our students- School Pictures on Oct 10th, Fire Safety presentation on Oct 13th, and a variety of grade level field trips are planned.

We will have a pumpkin-decorating contest this year, more information will be sent home next week about the rules of the contest. This is a fun event we hope everyone participates.

Thank you so much for you help!

Brenda Benfield

Principal
