The company that provides transportation to and from preschool is Adair Inc., located at 201 West Brady Avenue. The Transportation Office telephone number is 762-7424.
All children riding on the preschool bus will have seatbelts and /or car seats.
Please call the Transportation Office if your child is ill or will not be riding the bus. Please do this for each day that your child will not ride.
THE TRANSPORTATION OFFICE REQUESTS THAT AN ADULT COME TO THE DOOR, WHILE THE CHILDREN ARE BOARDING THE BUS. WHEN CHILDREN ARE DROPPED OFF THE OFFICE REQUIRES THAT AN ADULT WAVE, OR OTHERWISE LET THE BUS DRIVER KNOW THEY ARE HOME.
In order to ensure the safe delivery of children the bus driver WILL NOT drop off children when adults are not present. Please watch for your child when you are expecting the bus. Please allow a 15 minute adjustment for drop off and pickup times (ex: If your child is scheduled home at 3:05 PM, be sure to be home by 2:50 PM. This allows for student absences, road construction, heavy traffic etc.) If the usual adult is not available to pick up your child from the bus, bus personnel will only release your child to the adults listed as having permission to pick up on the Preschool Bus Form. Bus personnel will ask for picture identification if they are unfamiliar with the adult receiving your child. Your child will be returned to preschool if no one is present at the drop-off address or if the adult present is not listed on the Preschool Bus form. Parents are responsible for keeping the information on the Preschool Bus Form up-to-date.
If your child is returned to preschool, staff will notify you, and you will need to pick up your child at the preschool. The first time a child is returned to preschool you will be reminded of the bus policy verbally or by letter. The second time a child is returned to preschool you will receive a letter stating what action will be taken regarding your child's return. The third time a child is returned to preschool a referral will be made to the appropriate authorities.
Please listen to your radio for weather reports on bad weather days. We will follow the same weather schedule as the elementary schools on these days. Allow an additional 15 - 20 minutes for the bus to arrive on days when the weather is poor. In the event school is delayed for 2 hours, there will be no AM preschool session.
For safety reasons, the bus drivers ask that you not give your child gum or snacks on the bus. All toys need to be small enough to fit into the child's school bag until he or she reaches the classroom.
On the first day of school, we recommend that you have your child ready about an hour before school time. The buses will take a few days getting into their route schedules, but should establish a routine time very quickly. Additionally, pick up and drop off times will be affected as we add/drop students during the school year.
