The
Los Niños Early Intervention Center provides special education
services for preschool children who are identified as having developmental
delays in one or more areas of growth and development. The Peer
Role Model Program was instituted in order to provide our developmentally
delayed students the opportunity to interact with and learn from
typically developing peers.
The children enrolled as role models benefit from our exceptional
teaching staff. We not only have highly qualified teachers and therapists
who are specifically trained in the areas of special education and/or
early childhood education, we also have dedicated and skilled educational
assistants who enhance each child's educational experience while
he/she is enrolled at Los Niños.
We provide a literacy rich, play-based curriculum, which is
designed to enhance individual strengths and promote learning and
growth in all developmental areas.
In order to qualify for the Peer Role Model Program, children
must meet the following criteria:
- They must turn 3 or 4 years of age during the current school
year.
- They must obtain an average or above average score on the
DIAL-3 screening instrument and must be at or above age level
in speech, language and social/emotional skills.
- They must have an excellent ability to pay attention and follow
directions.
- They must follow behavior rules with very little or no resistance.
- They must have excellent attendance.
If your child meets these qualifications, and you are interested
in enrolling him/her in our preschool, you will be asked to read
and sign a parent contract. The contract explains there are tuition
fees of $50.00 per month for a half-day program, four days per week.
The first four weeks of enrollment (trial period) are considered
a part of the screening process and will help us determine if your
child qualifies as a peer. The contract also explains our policies
regarding grievances, program changes and dismissals |
