Peer Role Model Program

The primary purpose of Los Niños and Lincoln Jackson is early childhood intervention services.  A critical component of early childhood intervention is the Peer Role Model Program.  Each preschool classroom has approximately two Peer Role Models to help promote developmentally appropriate skills for the students receiving early intervention services.  These skills include social/emotional/behavioral, speech/language, self-help, early numeracy, early literacy, fine motor, and gross motor.  We provide a literacy rich, play-based curriculum, which is designed to enhance individual strengths and promote learning and growth in all developmental areas.

In order to qualify for the Peer Role Model Program, children must meet the following criteria:

  • They must be 3 or 4 years old.
  • They must obtain an average or above average score on the DIAL-4 screening instrument and must be at or above age level in speech, language and social/emotional/behavioral skills.
  • They must have an excellent ability to pay attention and follow directions.
  • They must follow rules with little or no resistance.
  • They must have excellent attendance.

If your child scores average or above average on the DIAL-4 the screening process will continue for 4 weeks in the classroom. In order for your child to be considered a Peer Role Model the following criteria will need to occur:

  • Peer Contract must be read and signed by parents.
  • Tuition Fee of $50.00 per month
  • After 4 weeks of attendance at preschool the parents and teacher will meet to determine if the child qualifies as a Peer Role Model.

There are limited openings for the Peer Role Model program so it is best to apply early.  Applications can be picked up at the preschool your family is zoned for.  Families living north of 14th Street are zoned for Los Niños and families living south of 14th Street or at Cannon AFB housing are zoned for Lincoln Jackson.
