Dear Students,

Every effort has been made to give you the electives you want. In some cases you might have been placed in something you didn't ask for. Unfortunately sometimes this happens, but if you don't immediately see something you signed up for on your current schedule then chances are you'll see it on your second semester schedule that you'll receive when we come back from Christmas vacation.

You'll notice that there are "9 Periods" on your schedule. Does this mean the school day is now longer? Absolutely not! Look at your schedule. The first seven things are classes for Periods 1 through 7. Our school day begins with the first bell at 8:25 a.m., the tardy bell at 8:30 a.m. and school is dismissed at 3:30 p.m. So, what are the 8th and 9th things on your schedule?

The 8th entry tells you what team you're on and who your counselor is (Mr. Pullings...that's me!). the team concept places about the same number of 7th or 8th grade students with the same Core Teachers; English, History, Literacy Development, Math and Science for 7th graders, and English, History, Math, and Science for 8th graders. Your Advisory Teacher will explain more about your team. What's Advisory?

Counselors offer many services to students.  Some of these services are educational, social, and personal counseling.  Whenever a student needs or wants to see me, no appointment is necessary.  Be sure to request permission from your teacher and have them sign your Hall Pass located within your planner.

Advisory is the 9th entry on your schedule. does this mean it occurs at a 9th period after school? NO! Putting it where it is on ;your schedule is the only way our computer system could get it on there. Advisory will happen every day right in between 1st and 2nd periods. First period will dismiss at 9:18 a.m. and you'll go straight to your Advisory Class, which will meet from 9:22 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. In Advisory you will do many things over the school year, including receiving your Progress Reports and Report Cards, watching Channel One, recieving the daily announcements, talk about Character Counts subjects, receive and review your Daily Planners, get school paperwork that needs to go home, and so forth. When the bell rings at 9:50 a.m. you'll be dismissed to your 2nd period class. Notice that your Advisory teacher is one of your Core Teachers.

You'll receive School Handbooks in your Advisory Class, but one thing you would probably like to know now...what time is lunch? Good question!

7th graders have lunch BEFORE 4th period, from 11:34 a.m. to 12:04 p.m.

8th graders have lunch AFTER 4th period, from 12:26 to 12:56 p.m.

If you have any additional questions now please ask me (Mr. Pullings) or our school registrar, Mrs. Miner, and we'll be glad to help you. If not, your Advisors will answer everything for you on the first couple of days of school. It's going to be a great year!
