wrangler news

cloversSpell-a-Thon:  Our spring fundraiser is underway.  Students have taken home word study lists and envelopes to collect donation or per word support. This effort not only raises needed money for our children, it also puts the emphasis on student success with academics.  All students will take their grade-level spelling test on March 1st.  Tests will be graded that day and results sent home no later than Wednesday so students can collect the pledges.  We would like to have everything finished before Spring Break, so your help in getting the money turned in by March 12th is greatly appreciated.  Kim Wilson, from CFCU, will be here on March 25th, to present the top prize. Class participation will be announced and invitations to the ice cream sundae party will be given that day also for students who get at least $10.00 in sponsorship ($5.00 for each subsequent child in same family).

Yearbook Time! Place your order for your all color yearbook now!  Your Early Bird Special cost is $20.00 until March 12h.  Your cost after March 12th will be $25.00 per book.  Make checks payable to Ranchvale Elementary. We have only 46 copies not reserved, and I am sure you won’t want to miss this one.

clockClocks:  Remember to set your clocksforward one (1 hour) before going to bed on March 14th.

GET YOUR CREATIVE JUICES FLOWING:  We are planning an egg decorating contest this year. Look for more information to come before spring break.

READING PASSPORTS:  Miss Patty will begin Read Around the Library on March 1st.  Students are given a Reading Passport and earn stamps for each section of the library that they read a book from.  Encourage your child to participate in this fun reading adventure.

The New Mexico Statewide Assessment will be given to students in grades 3-6 March 29th through April 9th..  Please ensure your child is at school on time and all day during this time period.  Make-up tests are extremely difficult to arrange and are difficult on students, as they must make up the classwork they miss while taking the make-up portions of the NMSBA after the April 9th.

thank youThank you CAFB Commissary:  Mrs. Horde from the CAFB Commissary presented Ranchvale with 25,000 Campbell Soup labels today.  In a competition for increase in sales of Campbells’ and Pepperidge Farms’ projects, our commissary won first place.  They graciously gave Ranchvale the winning prize of 25,000 labels.  Our students will have lots of fun deciding how to spend them, and we encourage our military families to continue to support our commissary.

Read Across America day is Tuesday, March 2nd, a day we celebrate the life and works of Dr. cat hatSeuss.  Contact your child’s teacher if you can come in and read to your child’s class.  You are welcome to find a great book to share from our library, or bring your favorite childhood story with you.  Miss Patty will be glad to help you check one out.

Picture Day is coming this month on March 23rd.  This is for our spring individual pictures and our class pictures.  Preschoolers are welcome to come at 8:00 A.M. and take pictures with siblings or alone.  Class pictures are on a pre-paid basis, and individual pictures can be ordered after seeing the proofs.
