The following information is in the student handbook. Please call 769-4420 to notify the school of absences. If you would like more information about the Clovis Board of Education attendance regulations, please click here. Please be aware that more than 10 absences per semester (for any reason) is considered excessive absences.
Regular attendance is required not only from the standpoint of optimum education, but from a legal standpoint. Grades are determined by total effort and participation, including daily class work, as well as tests, labs, practical work and examinations. All missed work must be made up.
In case a student is absent from school, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify the school of when and why the student is not in school
. The parents may notify the school by telephone or by sending a note with the student. This notification should be done no later than the day of the absence unless there is an emergency that makes this impossible. In this case, the student should bring a note on the day of his/her return to school and give it to the front office (Parents should also include documentation of doctor appointments, court appearances, or other appointments that could not be scheduled outside the school day.) FAILURE TO GIVE THE SCHOOL PROPER NOTIFICATION MAY RESULT IN THE ABSENCE BEING TREATED AS A TRUANCY.
Assignments can be requested only if the student is going to be out 3 or more days.
|Absences for School Sponsored Activities
Authorized school-sponsored trips are considered an extension of the school day, and the student is not counted absent. The student, however, must satisfactorily make up all missed work in a timely fashion.
Parents/students should keep the school informed of any changes in address or phone numbers, in the event that the school needs to contact parents to verify information on absences and in case of an emergency.
