keepers of the dream

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Career Day was fabulous! The kids learned a great deal about responsibility, work ethic, and career opportunities from our community volunteers. Thanks to Susan and Steve Credle for coordinating a wonderful day of learning!

Zia Appreication Week was outstanding! Thank you to Twila Rutter, who organized numerous activities and goodies that made the Zia Staff feel pampered and appreciated. What a terrific way to end the year!

Just a reminder, we still have LOTS of coats, lunch boxes, and sweaters in our Lost and Found. If your child is missing anything, please check the box in our cafeteria before school is out. At the end of the year, all leftover items will be donated to charity.

If you would like a school supply list for the 2010-11 school year, you may check the Zia website at www.clovis-schools.org. If this is not convenient for you, copies will be available at the Zia Office in August.

Finally, just a reminder, the FUMC latchkey van and Nazarene bus will not run on Tuesday. As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me, and I will be happy to discuss whatever is on your mind. Thank you again for your support and another great year! Have a safe and fun summer!

Your partner in education,
Jarilyn Butler

Spelling Bee:
On Tuesday, 67 students in grades 4-6 participated in the Zia Spelling Bee. Everyone did a super job and showed outstanding sportsmanship and character.  Congratulations to the following students:  Jordan Chavez – 3rd place, Layton Guthals – 2nd place, and Ashley Weston – 1st place.  A big thank you goes to our pronouncer, Mrs. Carol Nash and our judges, Mrs. Terri Bryant and Mrs. Becky Wood.

From the Nurse’s Office:
In preparation for the end of the year, the school district requires that a student’s parent or guardian pick up all medications stored at the school.  Medications will not be sent home with students (with the exception of asthma inhalers). The nursing staff is required to dispose of any medication not picked up by the last day of school, May 25.   If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Hieronymus at 769-4485.
