Committee Selects New Principals

May 20, 2013: Shalei Bennett has accepted the position of Principal at Zia Elementary School.

Shalei has been an Instructional Coach since August 2012. Prior to her position as an Instructional Coach at James Bickley and Lockwood Elementary Schools, she was a 5th grade teacher in the District from 2003 - 2012. Ms. Bennett received her Masters in Educational Administration at Wayland Baptist University.

Todd Morris has accepted the position of Principal at Choices. Todd has been the Assistant Principal at Mesa and Zia Elementary Schools since 2012.

Superintendent Selects New Chief Financial Officer

May 16, 2013: Shawna Russell has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer for Clovis Municipal Schools.

Since 2008, Shawna has been the Supervisor of Accounting Services for Clovis Schools. Prior to her employment with Clovis Schools, she was the Financial Specialist for the Ninth Judicial District Court from 2007 to 2008.

Summer Reading

May 2, 2013:  Since reading is the most important skill that a student can have, and we know that many students regress in their reading skills over the summer, Clovis Municipal Schools is launching its 2013 Summer Reading Program for students grades Pre-K through 5th to encourage students to read throughout the summer.

May 24, 2013:  The last day of school is here, and the time has come for a well-deserved break for students and staff who have worked hard during the past school year.

It is also time once again for our CMS 2013 Summer Reading Program. The program began last year, with the overarching goal of supporting students’ literacy skills during summer months, a period during which learning loss may occur. It was enormously successful last summer, with students - accompanied by their parents - dropping by the district’s Central Office to collect and turn in completed Reading Logs.

By law, under the Inspection of Public Records Act, every person has the right to inspect public records of Clovis Municipal Schools. The Act also makes compliance with requests to inspect public records an integral part of the routine duties of the officers and employees of Clovis Municipal Schools.

Internet Usage: Cyber Bullying/Harassment

Clovis Municipal School District regards Internet safety, Internet usage, and attempted “cyber bullying” seriously. Proper usage of the Internet is required by School District Policy and inappropriate usage of the Internet to harass or bully others is prohibited by state law.

The posting of derogatory statements or derogatory information about another person on the Internet may be considered “cyber bullying” and is a prohibited form of harassment if such conduct causes or will cause a disruption to the educational environment.

Clovis Municipal School District strives to provide a welcoming environment and a quality education for every child in our schools.  CMS will investigate alleged “cyber bullying” and will discipline any students involved in this inappropriate behavior.  CMS will cooperate with local law enforcement to prosecute, if necessary, anyone involved in bullying or harassment of our students.

POLICE PRESENCE AT OUR SCHOOLS

Clovis Municipal Schools continues to cooperate with the Clovis Police Department to provide proactive law enforcement activities in and around our schools. Therefore, you may encounter police officers at your child's school or on the campus. Additionally, officers will continue to patrol the schools as part of their driving routes. Thank you to the Clovis Police Department and local law enforcement within our community.
