Board of Education Approves Recommended Budget Cuts Dear Staff, Parents, and Community Members, On Tuesday, November 3rd, the Clovis Municipal Schools’ (CMS) Board of Education met in a special meeting to discuss and consider ways to reduce the current budget by $600,000. The reductions were necessary due to cuts made to education in the legislative Special Session this past October. The administration recommended, and the Board approved unanimously, the cuts listed below. In addition, the Board unanimously approved reductions in next year’s budget (2010-2011) of approximately $500,000. CMS has made every effort to cut positions and services that do not directly impact students. However, classrooms and students will be affected if further cuts occur. CMS Events Flu Season Tips H1N1 Vaccine Dear Parents/Guardians: As you may know, flu season is upon us. In order to keep school children as healthy as possible, please consider the following actions that will help reduce the spread of flu – both seasonal and H1N1 (formerly called Swine Flu) – in the Clovis Municipal School system: Click Here to Download the Following Actions ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF CMS STUDENTS Clovis Municipal Schools (CMS) and the New Mexico Department of Health are working together to provide students with the H1N1 Influenza vaccine. All CMS students will be receiving a vaccine information packet at school some time during the week of January 6 – 8, 2010. No packets will be mailed home, so please be sure to ask your child for the information. The packet will contain several pages of reading material and a consent form that must be completed (please answer all questions), signed, and returned to school no later than Friday, January 15, 2010. Consents returned after this date will not be accepted. Students with a completed consent form will be vaccinated against H1N1 with injected vaccine only – no nasal mist for H1N1 will be administered due to availability. Vaccine clinics will take place at your child’s respective school during the week of January 25 – 29, 2010. If you have questions regarding the consent form or planned H1N1 flu vaccination clinics, please call Rhonda Sparks, Director of Health Services, at 575-935-0011.
