Former Clovis High School Wildcat Kamal Cass will be inducted into the Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) Athletic Hall of Honor this weekend at halftime of the ENMU Greyhound vs Texas AM Kingsville football game at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Kamal Cass is arguably the greatest running back to put on an ENMU jersey, according to a press release from ENMU.
Spending his four-year career at ENMU (2014-2017), Cass thrived under current head coach Kelley Lee holding seven career program records including rushing yards (4,301 yds), all-purpose yards (5,322 yds), touchdowns scored (53 TDs), and total points scored (318 points).
A three-time All-American selection, Cass was named LSC Offensive Back of the Year in 2016 and 2017, along with being the LSC leading rusher for three straight seasons (2015-1,514 yds, 2016-1,191 yds, and 2017-1,443 yds). Cass garnered three All-LSC First Team honors and currently is 6th on the LSC all-time career rushing leader board.
A 2014 Clovis High School graduate, while a CHS Wildcat, Cass played for head coach Eric Roanhaus. As a senior for the Wildcats, he was selected as the 2012 Gatorade Player of the Year for New Mexico after he rushed for 2,081 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Cass is just one of two players in state history with multiple 2,000-yard rushing seasons. He also competed for the Wildcat track & field team, was named ENMU Student-Athlete of the Year twice and led the LSC in scoring in 2015 with 138 points.
Currently, Cass is continuing his professional football career in Germany as part of the Straubing Spiders in the German Football League.
CONGRATULATIONS KAMAL – #ClovisWildcatsMakeItCount!
