The Board of Education of the Clovis Municipal Schools believes that every child and youth in Clovis, regardless of race, creed, or color, should be provided an opportunity for an education which will develop in each child the ability to use effectively the basic skills of learning; the ability to think objectively and creatively; the zeal for social intelligence and responsibility; a wholesome attitude toward life in general; the desire to build and maintain a healthy and useful body.
We believe that if a child is to play his role as a citizen in a democracy, the school must serve as a laboratory in which the essentials of democratic living are learned and practiced.
We regard the school as a place where children may enjoy a full and satisfying life as a part of their preparation of fruitful participation in the activities of life after leaving school.
We recognize the importance of spiritual values because it is through these values that the child learns best how to live the good and useful life.
We consider education a cooperative enterprise in that it demands the cooperative efforts of the community, the parents, teachers and pupils.
