Vision of the English Learner Program

To develop English Language skills so that EL students can access grade-level instruction, materials, and academic choices to achieve academic success through a learning environment that validates each student’s language and culture.  

Goals of the English Learner Program

• Accurately Identify English learners for participation in the services offered in our local EL program as well as proper exit from EL status.

• Provide a culturally responsive instructional environment. (“the validation and affirmation of the home culture and home language for the purposes of building and bridging the student to succeed in the culture of academia and mainstream society” (Hollie, 2012, p.23) 

• Deliver evidence-based instructional practices to English Learners that develop academic language and literacy skills.

• Provide resources and supports to our English learners to accelerate their learning of English and content.

• Promote family engagement and partnerships with parents to support English Learners’ academic achievement.

• Provide services that align with federal and state legal requirements.
