On Tuesday, September 3, Gattis 7th and 8th grade football players made history when they played the first-ever game at home. In it's 12-year history, Gattis has only used the football field for football and track practice; all "home" games have been played at Norman Vohs Stadium at Yucca.
Braylon Weaver, the quarterback for the 8th-grade team said, "It was different (playing at home) because, seeing our school in the background made it more exciting."
Assistant Coach Patrick Harriman echoed his quarterback's statements by saying, "It's exciting because it was the first time ever (to play on the field) and it allows our students to be in attendance and not have to travel to a 'home' game."
Harriman also added that the team had lots of support at the first game with lots of parents, students and teachers in attendance.
