Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to announce that Joe Strickland, Deputy Superintendent of Employee Services, has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Dedication Award by the New Mexico School Personnel Association (NMSPA). This honor recognizes his remarkable contributions and lifelong commitment to excellence in human resources within the field of education.
The Lifetime Dedication Award is presented to individuals who exemplify outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication, profoundly shaping the landscape of human resources in education. Mr. Strickland's career has been defined by his vision, leadership, and positive influence on students, staff, and the broader educational community.
Mr. Strickland began his career as a classroom teacher, inspiring students at Portales Schools, Floyd Schools, and later Clovis Municipal Schools. Transitioning into leadership roles, he has consistently demonstrated his passion for education and professional growth. Highlights of his journey include earning National Board Certification in 2004, mentoring educators as a Dossier coach, and serving as Deputy Superintendent of Employee Services since 2019, where he has spearheaded initiatives to improve HR practices, strengthen employee relations, and ensure a positive and supportive work environment across the district.
In addition to his work at Clovis Municipal Schools, Mr. Strickland has served on the board of La Casa De Buena Salud and held leadership positions in the American Association of School Personnel Administrators and ENLACE. His extensive academic achievements include two advanced degrees, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning.
This award celebrates not only Mr. Strickland’s professional excellence but also his enduring influence as a mentor, leader, and advocate for educational innovation.
