Clovis Choirs Shine at Choral Large Group Music Performance Assessment

CLOVIS, N.M. – The Clovis Municipal Schools choral program showcased its talent at the Southeastern New Mexico Music Educators Association’s (SENMMEA) Choral Large Group Music Performance Assessment held in Hobbs on March 4-5, 2025.

Choirs from Yucca Middle School, Gattis Middle School, Clovis High School Freshman Academy (CHSFA), and Clovis High School (CHS) participated in the event, where they were adjudicated in two categories: Concert Performance and Sight Reading. Groups were evaluated on a 100-point scale, with scores of 90 or higher earning a prestigious “Superior” rating.

Out of the 10 participating Clovis choirs, nine received “Superior” ratings in both categories, while one group earned a “Superior” in Sight Reading and an “Excellent” in Concert Performance. Additionally, four choirs qualified to compete at the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) State Choir Contest, scheduled for April 4-5.
