Clovis Municipal Schools Names Julie Gutierrez as Head Volleyball Coach at Clovis High School

Clovis, NM — Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Julie Gutierrez as the new Head Volleyball Coach at Clovis High School.

Coach Gutierrez brings a strong record of success, a passion for student-athlete development, and a clear vision for building a competitive and connected volleyball program. Most recently, she served as Head Volleyball Coach at Cobre High School, where she led her team to the 2025 Class 3A State Championship, along with multiple district titles and consecutive deep postseason runs.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Gutierrez to Clovis,” said Nic Williams, Athletic Director for Clovis Municipal Schools. “What stood out most during the hiring process was her ability to connect—with athletes, staff, and the broader school community. Her communication skills, organizational strength, and passion for mentoring young people will foster a positive and competitive volleyball culture.”

In addition to her recent state championship, Coach Gutierrez has been recognized multiple times as District Coach of the Year and has demonstrated consistent success in building and sustaining high-performing programs. Her experience extends beyond volleyball, with a distinguished background in basketball as both a player and coach, including honors such as New Mexico Player of the Year and collegiate All-Conference recognition.

“I’m passionate about coaching and truly enjoy building programs that focus on player development, teamwork, and a positive team culture,” said Gutierrez. “I take pride in helping student-athletes grow not only as competitors, but also as leaders and teammates. I’m excited for the opportunity to bring that mindset and energy to the Clovis High volleyball program.”

Coach Gutierrez holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Brigham Young University and has completed graduate-level coursework in education. She also holds a Level II New Mexico Athletic Coaching License and brings a strong foundation in both instruction and leadership.

Clovis Municipal Schools looks forward to the impact Coach Gutierrez will have on student-athletes and the broader Wildcat community. Under her leadership, the program is positioned to build on its tradition while continuing to grow in excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
