CLOVIS, N.M. — Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Kevin Summers as Deputy Superintendent of Operations, Technology, and Athletics, effective June 2026. Summers will transition into this expanded leadership role after serving the district as Executive Director of Data and Accountability.

Summers brings more than two decades of experience in education, including district-level leadership, campus administration, and classroom instruction. Since joining Clovis Municipal Schools, he has played a key role in strengthening data systems, supporting accountability measures, and advancing transparency across the district.

In his new role, Summers will oversee a broad portfolio that includes district operations, technology systems, and athletic programs. His leadership will support the continued alignment of resources, infrastructure, and student opportunities, ensuring that all areas work together to enhance the overall student experience.

Prior to joining Clovis Municipal Schools, Summers served as superintendent in both Aztec and Bloomfield school districts, where he focused on improving student outcomes, strengthening organizational systems, and building meaningful partnerships with families and community stakeholders. His experience also includes service as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, building principal, and classroom teacher across New Mexico, Texas, and California.

“Kevin has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success and organizational excellence during his time in Clovis,” said Superintendent Russ. “His ability to lead with integrity, build collaborative teams, and align systems to support our schools makes him the right choice for this role. We are confident his leadership will continue to move our district forward.”

Summers holds a Master of Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from New Mexico State University. He is also actively engaged in professional learning networks across the state and is an Affiliate Representative for the New Mexico Coalition of Educational Leadership Executive Board.

“I’m humbled and honored to step into this role and continue building on the strong foundation our operations team has established,” said Summers. “Their work has positioned Clovis as one of the top districts in the state for facility maintenance, and that same commitment extends to how we support our students through technology and athletics. I’m committed to student-centered decisions that strengthen systems and expand opportunities for students, staff, and community alike.”

Clovis Municipal Schools looks forward to the continued impact of Summers’ leadership as the district advances its mission of equipping every student with the knowledge and skills needed for a productive and successful future.
