Clovis High School Seniors Gracelynn Tatum and Joaquin Sanchez Named Thoma Scholars

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLOVIS, N.M. — Clovis High School is proud to announce that seniors Gracelyn Tatum and Joaquin Sanchez have been selected as Thoma Scholars, a highly competitive, four-year scholarship recognizing exceptional leadership, academic achievement, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Tatum has been selected to attend Oklahoma State University, while Sanchez will attend Texas Tech University, both beginning in fall 2026.

The Thoma Scholars Program invests in high-achieving students from communities across West Texas, Northwest Oklahoma, and Eastern New Mexico, with a focus on developing leaders who will distinguish themselves during college and beyond. The scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, housing, meals, books, and study abroad. Scholars also benefit from a comprehensive support system that includes leadership development, career exploration, and individualized academic support.

Established by the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation in partnership with Texas Tech University and Oklahoma State University, the program is designed to support students as they succeed in college while growing as leaders prepared to contribute to their campuses, professions, and communities.

Both students have demonstrated strong academic performance along with a clear commitment to leadership throughout their high school careers. As Thoma Scholars, they will continue to build on these experiences through opportunities that challenge and support their growth as future leaders.
