Barry STEAM Academy Leaders Selected to Present at National Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clovis, NM - Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to share that Barry STEAM Academy Principal Nicole Hahn and Assistant Principal Kelly Bradley were selected to present at the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) Conference in Anaheim, California. Their proposal was chosen through a competitive national selection process, providing an opportunity to highlight the innovative work taking place at Barry STEAM Academy.

Their presentation showcases how they reimagined Barry’s daily schedule by integrating morphology, the science of reading, and hands-on STEM learning. By weaving complex concepts like "The Changing Earth" into reading blocks, expository writing, and math measuring stations, they proved their core belief: EVERYTHING, Can Be Taught Through Science.

Since opening, Barry STEAM Academy has focused on building a strong instructional model while navigating the challenges of a new campus, including ongoing construction and a diverse range of staff experience. Through a collaborative approach, campus leadership and staff have worked to strengthen instructional practices and create a cohesive school culture centered on student success.

Hahn and Bradley’s presentation will highlight how the campus has integrated literacy and STEM instruction across the school day. By connecting science concepts with reading, writing, and mathematics, the campus has developed a cross-curricular approach designed to support deeper student learning and engagement.

These efforts have contributed to measurable progress, including growth in student reading and math performance, improved attendance rates, and a reduction in behavioral incidents over the past three school years. Together, these outcomes reflect the school’s commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.

In addition to their national presentation, Hahn and Bradley have also been selected to present at the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, this July.

Clovis Municipal Schools congratulates Principal Hahn and Assistant Principal Bradley on this accomplishment and is proud to see their work recognized at both the national and regional levels.
