Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to announce that Grayson Boerio, a former 8th-grade student at W.D. Gattis Middle School, recently represented the district on the national stage at the National History Day (NHD) National Contest. The prestigious competition took place from June 14-18, 2026, at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
Grayson competed against 100 of the top students from across the country in the Junior Division Individual Documentary category. His project, titled "How America's Reaction to 9/11 Created Reform and Revolution in Our Nation's Architecture," explored the profound and lasting structural and cultural shifts in American architectural design following the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
While Grayson did not place in the top 10 final round, his scholarship and storytelling caught the attention of state historians. In recognition of his outstanding work, his documentary has been selected to be featured at the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe throughout the month of July.
Clovis Municipal Schools congratulates Grayson on this accomplishment and the recognition his work has received. His success at both the state and national levels highlights the value of student research, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with history beyond the classroom.
