1st grade kids learning how to code

In today's digital age, learning to code is becoming essential as learning to read, write, or do basic math. Here at Barry STEAM Academy we are introducing coding concepts early to help develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and creativity! In the picture the students are trying to input information to get Rosie the dog from one area to another.

The first grade teams work together or individually and choose the different ways Rosie should move. If they pick for her to turn left or right but there is an obstacle they would have to re input their moves to move around that obstacle. They had so much fun and were participating the whole time trying to get Rosie to the end!!

The introduction to coding so early is a forward-thinking approach that equips children with skills essential for the 21st century. By making coding fun and accessible, Barry STEAM Academy are laying the groundwork for a new generation of problem solvers, innovators, and creators.
