5th grade bridge blueprint

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT BARRY STEAM ACADEMY!!!

The fifth grade students were preparing to build bridges and test them to see how heat and cold affects them. Building bridges is not just about connecting places; it's also about understanding science, engineering, and the environment. The fifth graders got to explore how bridges are designed and constructed, and how natural forces like heat and cold can impact these structures. Understanding these forces helps students learn why certain bridge designs work better for different situations. Forces aren't the only things that affect bridges-temperature plays a big role too. They learned that bridges must endure all kinds of weather, from scorching summer heat to freezing winter cold. The temperature changes can significantly impact how a bridge performs. Bridges are a perfect example of how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) come together. The fifth graders can now, not only understand how these structures are built, but also how to think like engineers-solving problems and thinking ahead to keep bridges safe for people. This exploration sparks curiosity, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the world of engineering.
