Dear Clovis Municipal Schools Families,
We hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying the beginning of the spring semester. As we approach Valentine's Day, we want to take a moment to address a practice that, while well-intended, can create challenges within our school community.
Valentine's Day is a special occasion where expressions of love and friendship are celebrated. However, we kindly request your understanding as we discourage the delivery of Valentine's gifts, floral arrangements, balloons, and other items, to students on our campuses.
While we understand the joy these deliveries can bring, there are important reasons behind this decision.
The CMS District cannot assume responsibility for the deliveries, or lost or damaged items following delivery. Families who arrange deliveries should be aware CMS is not responsible for these items and cannot guarantee their condition or status during the school day or after dismissal.
We want to ensure the safety of your children and avoid any potential issues that may arise. Ensuring that the items students have with them in the school environment are age and situationally appropriate has a large influence on safety and behavior of students.
Flower and balloon arrangements are not permitted on school buses or any other district transportation. This restriction is in place to maintain a safe and distraction-free environment during transportation to and from school. Students who receive deliveries of items such as these will need to have alternate transportation arrangements from school.
Managing school site deliveries throughout the day causes disruption and distraction from teaching and learning. Our primary focus is on providing a conducive environment for academic growth, and the influx of deliveries can create unnecessary disruptions in this process.
We understand the desire to make Valentine's Day special for our students and we support our local businesses who rely on sales generated from the sale of Valentine’s Day gifts.
Each campus will be sending home information with students about how the Valentine's Day holiday will be celebrated at their respective sites. By working together, we can ensure that our classrooms remain focused on education, providing an enriching experience for all students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and we look forward to continuing to create a positive learning environment for our students.
Thank you for your partnership in fostering a supportive and focused educational experience at Clovis Municipal Schools!
