House System at AABV
Recently, a few teachers from AABV attended the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia to learn how to better engage our students while promoting a positive climate and culture at AABV. We are excited to incorporate their same House System at AABV. Many other Clovis Schools are implementing this House System.
What is a House System?
Houses are like teams: everyone belongs and everyone participates. Students will earn points throughout the year for positive behavior. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a research-based systems approach for creating and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment within schools. While students all belong to and earn points for their own house, they are expected to cheer for and encourage students in every house.
Team Altruismo: House of Givers
Altruismo traces its origins to the rainforests of the Amazon, where a group of powerful Brazilians were given the name because of the Portuguese meaning behind it: "the Givers."Black is our house color because it is the one color that contains all other colors - representing our goal of empowering all others.

Team Isibindi: House of Courage
Isibindi is a tight-knit group of individuals, like a pride of African lions, where family means everything. The House's symbolic animals, the mute swan, and the lion, serve to empower incoming members. While new students might be quiet or shy at first, the longer that they are in the House, the more they begin to display the 4 characteristics of strength and bravery. In Zulu Isibindi means "courage.

Team Réveur: House of Dreamers
Rêveur is a royal House whose name in French means "dreamers" or "idealists" - because the members who fill this group are students filled with freedom and wild abandon who recognize their dreams and will let nothing stand in the way of achieving them. This can be seen in the unicorn, which is on the center of the House's crest, a powerful creature who is almost impossible to tame.

Team Amistad: House of Friendship
Amistad is the House that originates from Mexico. A group of kind but powerful individuals that are known most for their unconquered spirit. This is why, in the language of their ancestry, their name means "friendship.
