The Arts Academy at Bella Vista had its 2nd annual Amazing Shake competition this past week, on December 16th and 17th. This year, we opened the challenge to have 4th and 5th graders compete! We want to give a huge thank you to our community members and CAFB, who took time out of their busy day to come and support our school and our students on this momentous day! These students have worked hard on their soft skills to prepare for this event and our volunteers did a fantastic job challenging our students in the best way. 🙌
Our competition this year, was broken down into two separate days, back to back. The first day consisted of Round 1: Work-a-Room, which is a challenge for the students to meet and greet with as many community members as they can within 30 minutes. They were also challenged to find our CEO in that round for an extra 10 points. We had the opportunity to host a genuine CEO this year, Damian Houfek, the President and CEO of ENMRSH! After Round 1, we went from 139 4th and 5th graders, down to only 80 to compete in Round 2: The Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is the round that consists of challenging stations where our volunteers participated in scenarios that required our students to think quickly on their feet and respond with poise. A special shout out to Mr. Sid Strebeck, owner of K-Bobs and Guadalajara, for stepping in where he was needed at our restaurant station. We also had a local dance studio owner, Kelsey Prince, owner of Dance Studio Extreme in Portales, who led one of our new stations this year!
Our final round of the competition took place on December 17th, which we called Fine Dining. This round cut 80 students down to only 10 to compete for the top three winners for this school year. Another big thanks to CHS and their ProStart program for supplying us with a beautiful cake as our dessert this year!
After all scores from all three rounds were tabulated, we then announced our top 3 students that will go on to compete in the district's Amazing Shake in 2025!
