Clovis Muncipal Schools - 2 hour Delay - Tuesday, January 21 2025

CLOVIS MUNICIPAL SCHOOLS DELAYED 2-HOURS TUESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2025

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with the wind chill expected to drop to -20 degrees.  Wind chills as low as 15 below zero could

result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.  Out of concern for CMS students who walk to school and those who must wait to be picked up at a bus stop, CMS will start school on a 2-hour delay tomorrow.  This will allow time for wind chill conditions to improve and to ensure that buildings are warm and ready to greet students and staff.

  • The district would like to remind families to ensure students are dressed appropriately for conditions.

  • During a delay, school meals, to include breakfast, are provided as usual.

  • A.M. Preschool is canceled due to the delayed scheduling.

During a 2-hour delay, schedules are shifted by two hours to allow additional time for safe travel and improvement of conditions.

Bus schedules and school arrival times can be calculated by adding two hours to regular schedules, for example, if the bus normally picks students up at 7 a.m., on delayed scheduling, the bus will arrive at 9 a.m. Likewise, if students are normally dropped off at school by 7:30 a.m., they would be dropped off by 9:30 a.m.
