FCCLA group

This year, eight dedicated students from W.D. Gattis Middle School’s FCCLA chapter traveled to the state competition, held from February 27 to March 1, in Albuquerque. Their hard work, passion, and commitment paid off in big ways as they competed in various STAR events.

  • Andrew Howland – Bronze Medalist in Repurpose and Redesign

  • Kairi Green – Bronze Medalist in Nutrition & Wellness

  • Yejin Cho & Natalie Mejia – Silver Medalists in Interior Design

  • Lalaine Jones – Silver Medalist in Job Interview

  • Emily Costa – Silver Medalist in Job Interview

One of the standout achievements from the W.D. Gattis FCCLA delegation at the state competition this year was of Quinneth Lucero, who was nominated Junior Vice President of Programs for the state of New Mexico. To be nominated for this position, Quinneth had to complete a rigorous process that included submitting a detailed application, gathering letters of recommendation, and passing a test on FCCLA history. She then interviewed with a panel of judges, gave a two-minute speech to hundreds of peers, and answered an impromptu question on stage — all of which tested her leadership skills, public speaking, and quick thinking. Through each step, Quinneth showcased her dedication, passion, and readiness for leadership.

These students are shining examples of hard work, and we look forward to seeing all of them continue to grow and succeed in the future.
