This week starts our final nine weeks for this school year.
Mark your calendars for some important dates. It is extremely important students are present for State Testing dates, so please refrain from checking them out these days and scheduling appointments during this time.
April 14-17: State Testing
April 14-15: ELA/Math Testing for both grades (State Test)
April 16: 8th Science (State Test)
April 17: 8th Science AM ONLY (State Test)
May 6-7: EOY iMSSA (State Test)
May 16: Elective Finals
May 19: Math and Science Finals
May 20: ELA and History Finals
May 21: Make-ups
May 22: Awards/Promotion Ceremony (more information to come)
May 23: Last day of School
In our continuing effort to create an environment that promotes focus and engagement, we are continuing to use Yondr cell phone pouches in the classes that have participated in our trial run. We are committed to evaluating this and will continue gathering feedback from students, teachers, and parents.
Research has shown that reducing cell phone access in classrooms leads to improved focus, higher academic performance, and better social interactions among students. Many schools across the country that have implemented similar policies have reported fewer disciplinary issues and increased student engagement.
Additionally, New Mexico lawmakers are currently exploring legislative efforts to implement anti-distraction policies in schools due to growing concerns about the impact of cell phones on student learning and mental health. Our initiative aligns with these broader discussions and helps ensure we are proactively fostering an environment that prioritizes education over digital distractions. We appreciate your support in this initiative and believe it will greatly benefit our students' educational experience.
