Clovis, NM – Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to announce it has been awarded a $20,000 grant through New Mexico’s Outdoor Equity Fund (OEF), administered by the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division (ORD). This funding will provide transformative outdoor experiences for students in grades 3-12 over the next 12-18 months.

The planned events will take place in eastern New Mexico and offer engaging activities such as fishing, animal identification, and wildlife photography. These experiences will allow students to build and strengthen essential skills, while also fostering connections between career and technical education (CTE) and real-world outdoor applications.

“Investing in these programs provides immediate benefits to youth and communities and also builds long-term economic opportunities in the outdoor recreation sector,” EDD Secretary-Designate Rob Black said, “By empowering young people through these initiatives, we nurture New Mexico’s next generation of outdoor leaders and professionals.”

The OEF program was created to provide all New Mexico youth, regardless of background, with opportunities to explore and enjoy the outdoors. By connecting students with nature, the program nurtures a sense of environmental responsibility while sparking interest in career pathways related to outdoor industries, conservation, and the environment.

Clovis Municipal Schools is excited to partner with the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division and join other grant awardees across the state in creating accessible outdoor experiences for students.

The grant's administrator will be Joseph Williams, the Safe and Healthy Schools Coordinator (TOSA) at Yucca Middle School. For further information, you can contact him at Joseph.Williams@Clovis-schools.org
