Mrs. Fickling and Miss Maria’s class is diving deep into early literacy skills, focusing on mastering letters, sounds, CVC words, and sight words. To make this process engaging and dynamic, the students participated in two exciting and interactive bingo games designed to enhance both their phonemic awareness and word recognition.

In the first game, each sound or letter was called out, the kids had to listen carefully, process the sound, and quickly locate it on their cards. The competitive nature of the game kept everyone engaged, but more importantly, it provided them with hands-on practice connecting sounds with their visual representations.

The second bingo game took things a step further by incorporating their weekly CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words along with three sight words they’ve been focusing on. Students had to identify and mark the correct words on their cards as they were read aloud. This game encouraged both decoding skills (for the CVC words) and the instant recognition of sight words—those words that don’t always follow the typical phonetic rules and must be memorized for fluent reading.

🌟 Collaborative Learning in Action! 🌟

Mrs. Whittle’s 5th grade students have been hard at work in Social Studies and Science, engaging in collaborative learning stations!

Students read and discussed current events in their groups and participated in a hands-on science experiment to explore how matter changes. They investigated whether mixing substances creates a new substance and discovered how scientists use mathematics and computational thinking to prove that weight is conserved during these changes. ⚗️📚💡

What an incredible learning experience for our 5th graders — teamwork, critical thinking, and curiosity all in one! 💙

🏆✨ Homework Winner of the Week! ✨🏆

Each week, our Parkview students rise to the challenge of completing and returning their homework and in return, they get the chance to be our Homework Hero!

This week’s lucky winner was 3rd grader Aliyus, and the randomly selected teacher was none other than Mrs. Rojas! 🙌

Aliyus wasted no time in challenging her to a friendly game of ⚽️ soccer—and let’s just say, they both gave it their ALL. With full speed, determination, and lots of laughs, they ended up sliding across the grass and picking up a few “battle marks” on their knees. 💪😂

The verdict? Memories were made, and Mrs. Rojas definitely still has some skills! 👏👏

Way to go, Aliyus—and shoutout to ALL of our students who turned in their homework this week. Keep it up, Parkview! 💙📚

🌦️ Weather Watchers in Action! 🌦️

Mrs. Dale’s class has been busy becoming little meteorologists this week! ☀️❄️🌧️

📏 They measured the day’s temperature with a thermometer.
📊 They graphed the week’s forecast – including temperature, precipitation, and wind direction.
🎥 They even recorded their very own news forecasts for a day of their choice (and wrapped it up with a fun watch party to see each other on screen!).
🌧️ Next up: a rain gauge experiment to see just how much rain we can catch and measure.
