District announces completion of Clovis High School running track renovation

After six months of renovations, Clovis High School is proud to announce the completion of its X1000 World Athletics certified, competition-grade running track – ready in plenty of time for track season in early 2024.

Wrapping the football field at Leon Williams Stadium, the newly overhauled track boasts a new base course and sub-base and a new track surface. Long jump, triple jump, pole vault and high jump are also sporting new surfaces, curbs and additional concrete features.

The renovation, provided for through $2.7 million in funds tied to Senate Bill 212 is the first track upgrade of this magnitude to be performed at Clovis High School, with the last significant overhaul taking place more than more than 17 years ago.

Described as a distinguished collegiate & high school running track system for high traffic facilities, the, World Athletics certified, impermeable surface is recognized as a superior, top of the line running track.

Though public access to the stadium will resume with construction concluded, in the interest of maintaining the integrity of the track for competition and practice by school athletes, public access to the track will not be permitted. Alternate track facilities at Yucca and Gattis Middle schools, in addition to playgrounds and athletic fields district wide, continue to remain available for public use outside of school hours.

Clovis Municipal Schools is thrilled to have secured funding that allows the district to extend high caliber athletic facilities to our students, ensuring they are provided what they need to successfully train and compete.

We can’t wait to see the Wildcats Make it Count!
