Zia Elementary students got a surprise visit today from the District Attorney’s Office, but it wasn’t your typical serious assembly! The event, focused on the importance of character and school attendance, while getting kids excited and engaged from start to finish.
During the assembly, a representative from the DA’s office spoke to students about the value of being responsible and showing up for school every day. “Being here and being your best selves is what makes you champions,” the speaker said. The message resonated with the students, but what came next really got the crowd buzzing.
Out of nowhere, Sasquatch himself (or at least a friendly, furry version) appeared on stage and challenged everyone to a dance contest! Laughter and cheers filled the room as Sasquatch showed off some surprisingly smooth moves, and students joined in on the fun. From flossing to the robot, everyone gave it their best shot!
Principal Dr. Davis said afterward, “It was such a fun way to reinforce a really important message. We want our kids to know that good attendance and strong character can lead to great things – and maybe even a dance-off with Sasquatch!”
The assembly was a hit, reminding Zia Elementary that showing up to school is more than just being present – it’s about being part of a community where fun and learning go hand in hand.
