To ensure the health and academic success of our students, the Clovis Municipal Schools Health Services Department will be conducting a mass vision and hearing screening at: Zia Elementary (575-769-4485) on September 2, 2026
Opt-out deadline: September 1, 2026
Good vision and hearing are critical to a student’s ability to learn and thrive in the classroom.
These basic screenings are designed to help identify potential issues early on so that students can receive the appropriate medical follow-up if needed.
What You Need to Know
● During the School Day: The screenings will take place during regular school hours and will be conducted by our trained school nursing staff.
● Results: You will only be contacted by the Health Services Department if your child’s screening indicates that a further, more comprehensive examination by a healthcare professional is recommended. If your child passes both screenings, no notification will be sent home.
● Cost: This screening is provided completely free of charge to all students.
Opt-Out Information
This is an automatic screening process for all students. Your child will be screened unless you explicitly choose to opt out. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in the vision and hearing screening, you must contact the school office at 575-769-4485 by September 1, 2026 to officially opt your student out of this event.
