Even principals get called in for some heavy-duty playground missions! ✈️❤️ Mrs. Hahn stepped in to help one of our 1st graders carry her very heavy “airplane engine” across the playground. After they got it fueled up—with chocolate, of course! 🍫—Mrs. Hahn made sure her little pilot was ready for takeoff by tossing her a parachute. 🪂 We love seeing imagination take flight and our principal joining right in on the adventure!

Ms. Harris’s 4th grade class brought Earth science to life by recreating different types of tectonic plate boundaries! 🌎 Students explored how plates move at convergent, divergent, and transform boundaries through a fun, hands-on activity. By modeling each type of movement, students were able to see how shifting plates can shape Earth’s surface and cause events such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and mountain formation. What an exciting way to learn about the powerful forces beneath our feet!

Ms. Plascencia’s second grade class had the opportunity to explore the plants and animals that live around our school! As young scientists, they took an outdoor walk around our school grounds to observe the different living things we could find.

During their walk, students carefully looked for plants and animals, observed their surroundings, and recorded their findings. They noticed different types of plants, insects, birds, and other signs of life that are part of the environment around us.

They talked about how living things can be found in many different places and how our school environment provides a home for a variety of plants and animals.

Hello Barry Steam Academy Families!

Yesterday was our first day of Barry Bistro enrichment class, and our students did an amazing job!

They have been learning important kitchen and cooking procedures, including cleanliness, kitchen safety, following directions, and reading recipes carefully. Today, the students were able to put those skills into action. 😁

The best part? The students did the work!
They read the recipe, gathered their ingredients, cut bananas, sliced strawberries, measured what they needed, and worked together to make delicious and healthy fruit smoothies! 🍓🍌🥤

It was wonderful to see them practicing independence, teamwork, responsibility, and real-world STEAM skills—all while having fun in the kitchen.

I am so proud of our young culinary scientists, and I’m excited for all the learning and creating we will do this year in Barry Bistro!

🏀 Elementary Basketball Clinics are coming this fall!

Clovis Municipal Schools’ Elementary Youth Program is offering basketball clinics for students in grades K-6 from Sept. 14 through Oct. 15. Students will have the opportunity to build skills, learn teamwork, and have fun on the court!

Starting the school year with a little STEM challenge! Mrs. Gardner’s class's first week of school included “Save Fred,” where students had to work together to get Fred (the gummy worm) safely into his gummy ring and then into a cup using only two paper clips. Lots of teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking! 🧠
