Clovis High School Freshman Academy Celebrates Student Success in Food Handlers Certification
Clovis High School Freshman Academy is proud to recognize the success of students in the Food and Nutrition program, where 137 students have earned their Food Handlers Certification this year, with 15 more currently working toward completion.
This achievement was made possible through the generous support of the CMS Education Foundation, whose grant removed the financial barrier for students to obtain this important industry credential.
“I am incredibly proud of our students for the hard work they’ve put into earning this certification,” said Kathryn Gonzales, Food and Nutrition instructor at CHSFA. “I’m also very appreciative of the grant funding that made this opportunity possible for all of our students.”
The Food Handlers Certification provides students with essential knowledge in food safety and sanitation, while also preparing them for employment opportunities in the food service industry and future coursework such as ProStart I and II.
This accomplishment reflects Clovis High School’s continued commitment to workforce readiness and giving students meaningful, real-world skills that support their success beyond the classroom.
