Dual Credit allows Clovis High School students to earn college credits on the way to getting a high school diploma!

What is Dual Credit?

Dual credit is an opportunity to take college classes while still in high school. You can earn both college and high school credit and get a head start on your college and career goals.

When am I Eligible?

As a CHS student, you are eligible to take dual credit classes on CHS campus as a sophomore. For online and face-to-face courses offered at CCC, you are eligible for dual credit classes the summer after your sophomore year.

How do I Qualify?

All students must meet placement requirements before enrolling in college classes. This can be done through ACT,SAT, or PSAT scores or by taking CCC's Accuplacer exam. Placement requirements differ based on program and course, so you should see your counselor to determine the requirements for classes you want to take.

How Many Classes Can I Take?

Students can take 1 class their first semester unless signing up for a CTE program. After successful completion of the first dual credit class (Cor higher),juniors may take 2 classes per semester. Seniors may take up to 3 classes as long as the student is taking at least 3 classes at CHS. NOTE: Courses offered on CHS campus are not calculated into the total number allowed.

How Much Does it Cost?

Under the NM Dual Credit agreement, CCC waives tuition, including technology fees and online fees. CHS covers the textbooks. Students are responsible for any student lab fees, i.e. science labs, occupational technology programs, etc. Those fees must be paid by June 1, (for Summer 2018), August 17 (for Fall 2018),and January 11 (for Spring 2019) or the student may be dropped from the course.

Are there other Benefits?
