The National Weather Service has updated its forecast and is predicting 5 to 8 inches of rainfall between 5:00 PM today and 3:00 AM tomorrow. With significant precipitation already received last week, several water retention areas throughout the city and county are currently at or nearing capacity. Given the potential for flooding and hazardous roadway conditions, Clovis Municipal Schools will transition to virtual/remote instruction tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30, 2026. This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution to keep our students, families, staff, and school buses off potentially unsafe roadways. Students and staff should not report to school buildings tomorrow and will instead participate in classes virtually. Additional information regarding virtual instruction will be communicated by schools as necessary.

Clovis Municipal Schools is hiring an assistant principal for Lockwood Early Childhood Center for the 2026–27 school year.
The annual salary range is $93,796 to $94,542, based on experience. Applicants should have a master’s degree, a valid New Mexico administrative license, and five years of experience in public school administration, supervision, and/or teaching. The district may consider alternative qualifications.

Soccer schedule update: The Clovis High School girls and boys soccer games originally scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, have been moved to Thursday, Oct. 1, due to anticipated inclement weather.
• Girls soccer: Home at Leon Williams Stadium. JV at 5 p.m.; varsity at 7 p.m.
• Boys soccer: Away at Roswell High School. JV at 4 p.m.; varsity at 6 p.m.
The Arts Academy at Bella Vista was briefly placed in “Secure and Teach” status today, September 28, 2026, because of police activity in the area. The secure and teach status has been lifted, and normal operations have resumed.
In coordination with city emergency management officials, Clovis Municipal Schools has canceled all school activities scheduled for today, Sept. 25, including parent-teacher conferences. Staff do not need to report to work today, with the exception of maintenance staff.
Maintenance staff should report to their normal location at their regular time if it is safe to do so. If they cannot travel safely, they should call Ronnie Anaya directly.

Registration is open for the Little Ballers Inc. and CMS Elementary Youth Program Triple Threat 3-on-3 basketball tournament, Nov. 6–8 at Marshall Junior High in Clovis. Boys’ and girls’ divisions are available for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders.
Registration is $100 per team of four, and reversible jerseys are provided. Teams are guaranteed four games in Saturday’s pool play, followed by single-elimination bracket play Sunday.

📅 School Calendar Reminder
There will be no school for students Friday, Sept. 25, while Clovis Municipal Schools holds parent/teacher conferences. Families should watch for information from their child’s school regarding conference schedules.
District offices will remain open during regular business hours.

To help keep games at Leon Williams Stadium safe and enjoyable for everyone, all middle school-aged and younger students must enter with a parent or legal guardian and sit with their families during the game.
Students found away from their families will be directed back to their parents or guardians. Students who repeatedly do not follow this expectation may be asked to leave the stadium.
