About Elementary Youth Programs

The Elementary youth program provides free, safe, and fun activities outside of school through a partnership with the City of Clovis, to help build the next generation of Wildcat athletes.

Programs are offered without cost to children in grades K-5 who are currently enrolled with Clovis Municpal Schools.

Current programs include:

  • Co-Ed Flag Football (Fall)

  • Co-Ed Volleyball (Winter)

  • Boys/Girls Basketball (Spring)

  • Track (Spring)

  • Soccer (coming soon)

Meet the Coordinator:

Photo of Garrick Sherrod

In the summer of 2024, Clovis High School physical education teacher and coach Garrick Sherrod, was selected for and accepted the position of Coordinator of Elementary Youth Programs.

A Norfolk native with a background in youth sports, Sherrod was first hired by Clovis Municipal Schools in 2022 as a secondary physical education teacher and assistant boys’ basketball coach, helping to lead the Wildcats through two seasons.

Prior to joining the district, Sherrod dedicated his time to youth athletics, working as a lead instructor for numerous sports camps, serving as a recreation coordinator for California’s Valley Wide Recreation, and has served as the assistant manager of Zhaire Smith Family Foundation, a youth charity located in Lubbock.

An athlete himself, while attending Eastern New Mexico University for his undergraduate work, Sherrod was a member of the Greyhounds Men’s Basketball Team from 2017 to 2022.

Sherrod holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Eastern New Mexico University.
