Alma Porras

Alma Porras, a seasoned educator and administrator hailing from Odessa, Texas, has been selected for and accepted the position of assistant principal at Clovis High School.

Porras has spent her career working with secondary students, most recently serving as counselor at Permian High School, a role she held for three years.

Beginning as a high school science teacher in 2008 for the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District, Porras transitioned to the role of academic counselor in 2015, a position she held until 2021 when she was named counselor at Permian High School.

Specializing in college and career preparation, Porras has devoted her career to assisting students in planning for academic and career success not just throughout, but beyond high school.

“It is an honor to take on the role of assistant principal at Clovis High School, a learning community focused on excellence,” Porras said.

I am passionate about education, and I look forward to contributing to our students’ high school and post-secondary success.”

An alum of Sul Ross State University, Porras possesses a Master of Education in Counseling and a bachelor’s of science in biology from Hardin Simmons University.

Porras will assume her role as assistant principal in July to allow preparation for the coming school year. This vacancy was created by the departure of Amy Wyatt.
