On Thursday, May 7, our 7th grade students at Yucca Middle School had an incredible opportunity to bring their learning to life during a special Civics Engagement Day!
As part of their Government unit, students welcomed local leaders from across our community into their classrooms. Through small group conversations, students learned firsthand about public service, leadership, and how decisions are made at the local, state, and federal levels. They asked thoughtful questions, made real-world connections, and gained a deeper understanding of how they can make a difference in their community.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our guest speakers—Brad Bender, Emily Gipson, Justin Howalt, Fidel Madrid, Mike Morris, Donna Mowrer, Harvey Park, Andrea Reeb, Fred Van Soelen, and Pat Woods—for investing their time, sharing their insight, and inspiring our students. Your commitment helped make this experience truly meaningful and impactful.

Clovis Cross Country Summer Workouts are just around the corner, and all incoming 7th graders through seniors are invited to join. Whether you’re new to running or returning for another season, this is a great opportunity to build endurance, connect with teammates, and get prepared for the fall.

Mandatory clinics will be held May 11 and 12, 2026, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m., with tryouts on May 14 beginning at 4:15 p.m. in the former CHS Freshman Academy Main Gym (1400 Cameo).
Students who will be in grades 9–12 during the 2026/2027 school year are invited to participate. No experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills, and be part of an incredible team.
Participants must have a current physical and proof of insurance.
Students who will be in 9-12 grade for the 2026-2027 school year are invited to audition for Color Guard! Auditions will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Auditions will be held at the Marshall 6th Grade Academy Rubber Gym (100 Commerce Way). Enter through the back door to the Marshall Band Hall. It is marked with a red sign next to the loading dock. Follow the signs inside.

The Yucca Symphonic Band represented our school with pride at the NMAA State Middle School Band Competition this past Thursday. Competing against 22 middle school bands from across the state, they delivered an outstanding performance and earned an impressive 4th place overall.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and talent these students demonstrated on such a big stage. Congratulations to our musicians and director for this remarkable achievement! 🎺👏

Gattis and Yucca Middle School Dance Tryouts are coming up for students who will be in 7th or 8th grade next school year. All interested students must attend the required clinic sessions prior to tryouts.

• Monday, April 27 | 4:30–6:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 28 | 4:30–6:00 p.m.

The clinic is mandatory to participate in tryouts.
Students should wear appropriate dance attire and shoes. No jewelry or long nails permitted. Physicals for the 2025–2026 school year will be accepted, but new physicals must be dated after April 1.

Important Requirements:
- The "Medical History" portion of the physical form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian before the student arrives.
- Students without parent signatures on file cannot be examined.
Next Steps for Participants:
1. Pick up the physical form packet from the Athletic Department Office or download it at https://www.clovis-schools.org/page/athletic-forms.
2. Complete and sign the parent history sections at home.
3. Send the student with the completed paperwork on Saturday, April 25th.
