Last week, Clovis Municipal Schools (CMS) proudly took its commitment to teacher development and retention to the state legislature. Mandy Carpenter, Executive Director for Talent Management & Development at CMS, met with state legislators in Santa Fe to advocate for the districtās grow-your-own educator initiatives through university partnerships and the Ed Fellowship program.
Thanks to these innovative programs, CMS has successfully established a direct teacher pipeline, resulting in zero current openings for K-12 teaching positions. Additionally, the district maintains a well-qualified and fully vetted applicant pool for the Spring semesterāa testament to the success of its educator development efforts.
As part of these advocacy efforts, Carpenter collaborated with Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) leadership to showcase the impact of their Teacher Residency program, which has played a crucial role in preparing future educators for the classroom.
