Graduation 2024

Graduation - SpanishCommencement for the Clovis High School (CHS) graduating class of 2024 will be held on Friday, May 24, 6:00 PM, at the Curry County Events Center.

Tickets will be required to attend the ceremony and will be distributed to graduates to share with guests. Tickets will only be given to graduates. All guests, age 1 and above, will require a ticket for admission.

Graduation from high school is an important event in the lives of students, parents, and families. The graduation ceremony is designed to provide memories and impressions that will last a lifetime.  The District needs your assistance to ensure the graduation ceremony is conducted in a dignified manner.

Noisemakers (including air horns, cow bells, and whistles) and signs (including posters and banners) will not be permitted in the graduation venue and their use is strictly prohibited. The throwing and/or possession of beach balls, balloons, confetti, or other related items at the ceremony are strictly prohibited. Deliveries of graduation gifts will not be accepted at the Curry County Events Center.

The Curry County Events Center doors will open to the public at 4:00 PM on Friday. Due to the time of the event and the proximity to the railroad crossings, traffic may be congested; therefore, please plan accordingly.

Avoid Delays: The Hull Street Overpass is the recommended route to cross the railroad tracks and access Brady Avenue without encountering a train.

·       Prince Street Overpass is closed for construction

·       Norris Street crossing is open, however may be blocked by trains at intervals, causing potential congestion and delays

Clovis Municipal Schools will be using pass-through security detectors upon entry to the event center. These detector systems are advanced security systems – not limited to metal detection – and will alert on items that share characteristics of weapons.

A “Clear Bag” policy will be in effect for Graduation:

o Permitted: Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" or 30.5 x 15.25 x 30.5 cm. This includes clear backpacks, clear fanny packs and clear cinch bags that fit within the permissible dimensions.

o No buckles, grommets/hardware or décor can be concealing any part of the bag.

o Permitted: One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziplock bag or similar).

Prohibited items include but are not limited to weapons such as guns, knives, explosive devices or any object that mimics the shape of a weapon.

Visitors should be prepared for school and law enforcement officials to search bags or other personal belongings.

Visitors are advised to limit items carried into the Event Center to avoid delays.

Be aware, objects with metal hinges such as clutch purses, sunglasses, small pocket knives and similar items may cause the detection system to alert and could result in a search of belongings or bags.

Tickets will be collected as visitors pass through the security check-point at the Events Center in an effort to reduce entry delays.

Just a reminder, graduating seniors need to be at the Events Center no later than 3:30 PM on Friday.

If family or friends are unable to attend, the graduation ceremony will be live streamed via "Clovis Municipal Schools - District Offices" Facebook page.
