CLOVIS, N.M. – Feb. 25, 2025 – Clovis Municipal Schools is proud to announce that Madalynn Casey has been selected as the recipient of the Billy Michal Student Leadership Award, representing the state of New Mexico. This national honor, presented annually by The National WWII Museum, recognizes exceptional young leaders who embody the American spirit through service, leadership, and commitment to their communities.

Madalynn was nominated by Melissa Winn, Dean of Students at Early College High School, for her outstanding dedication to leadership and community engagement. As one of only 51 students selected nationwide—including one from each state and the District of Columbia—she will travel to New Orleans from May 29 to June 1, 2025, to take part in the American Spirit Awards program.

During her time in New Orleans, Madalynn will join fellow award recipients in leadership activities, exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences at The National WWII Museum, and special events celebrating the impact of young leaders. This prestigious recognition not only highlights her contributions but also underscores the values of leadership, perseverance, and service that the award represents.

The Billy Michal Student Leadership Award, named in honor of Billy Michal—a young boy from Louisiana who contributed to the war effort during World War II—celebrates the idea that every individual, regardless of age, has the power to create positive change.

Clovis Municipal Schools congratulates Madalynn Casey on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to seeing the impact she continues to make in her community and beyond.
